Lloyd Thaxton was the Emmy-winning supervising producer and director of Fight Back! with David Horowitz. He played the recurring character Dr. Webbly Freon on the show. Before Fight Back! Lloyd rose to national prominence as the host of The Lloyd Thaxton Show, which aired for seven years and featured guests such as The Supremes, James Brown, Cher, The Byrds, and Peter, Paul and Mary. Lloyd’s humorous lip sync performances became his trademark. He was also the co-founder of Tiger Beat, the long-running American teen fan magazine that ceased publication in 2021 after more than 50 years. After The Lloyd Thaxton Show, Lloyd hosted several network game shows, an ABC radio talk series, and the NBC variety show Showcase ’68. He worked with David Horowitz for eighteen years on Fight Back! and wrote, produced, and directed over 200 segments for NBC’s The Today Show.
